IPv6 Support

Full IPv6 tracing with the same depth of reporting as IPv4. Trace from your machine or from Visualware's global IPv6 servers.

Ready for the next generation of IP

IPv6 is the successor to IPv4 and solves the exhaustion of available IP addresses as more systems come online. The internet is gradually moving to IPv6, with a long transition period where both coexist. VisualRoute handles both natively.

VisualRoute traces IPv6 addresses and delivers the full suite of reporting you get for IPv4. IPv6 addresses are longer than IPv4: an example is 2001:4860:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000, compared to 205.234.111.204.

Trace from your machine

To trace IPv6 addresses from your own desktop, you need an internet connection from an IPv6-enabled ISP. Modern operating systems include an IPv6 stack by default, so most machines are ready without further configuration.

Trace from Visualware's IPv6 servers

If your ISP is IPv4-only, the Business and SupportPro editions can run traces from Visualware's own server locations, including an IPv6-enabled server in the UK. You get true IPv6 path data without changing your local network.
